Now that we have the perfect material, it\u2019s time to print<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Get your feet wet<\/strong> by printing your first vinyl sheet using the Print Then Cut graphics available in Cricut Design Space through your Cricut Access Membership (or you can search for free images).\u00a0 You\u2019ll know they\u2019re Print Then Cut by the printer icon at the bottom left of the image.<\/p>\n<p>The reason why I want you to start with these images is that they have already been edited to print cleanly.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to have a successful first print so that you can get excited about moving onto the tweaks that will lead to your money-making projects.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blowingawayoutwest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Print-Then-Cut-7OPT-288x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"600\" stickers to start.\u00a0 Arrange 8-10 print then cut images on your Design Space Canvas and then click \u201cMake It Now.\u201d\u00a0 You may be prompted to resize images to fit, or you may need to add or subtract images so that you get a full sheet.\u00a0 Play with it until you get a successful sheet of stickers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The money-making tweak you\u2019ve been waiting for<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now we get to the fun part (because making money is always fun) where you get to create and upload your own Print Then Cut graphics to Design Space.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s so much easier to stand out on Etsy, Ebay, at a boutique or on Instagram if you\u2019re creating projects that are unique and not easily copied.\u00a0 This requires creating your own graphics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not interested in learning how to design using Adobe Creative Cloud?\u00a0 Good.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to <\/strong>because talented designers sell beautiful graphic packages that you can use to create your own unique products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why buy graphics?\u00a0 Because they\u2019re cheap and they come with a Commercial Use License.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ahhh.\u00a0 The confusing use license issue.\u00a0 I can see your eyes starting to glaze over but stick with me.\u00a0 Use licenses are a big deal.\u00a0 You aren\u2019t allowed to just search for an image, download it and use it to make products you\u2019re going to sell\u2014or even give away for free.\u00a0 It\u2019s against copywrite laws.<\/p>\n<p>Most bloggers who give away freebies, myself included, are giving you designs with a <strong>Personal Use License.<\/strong>\u00a0 That means the design is copywrite protected and you\u2019re only allowed to use that design in its entirety for you and your home.\u00a0 Most bloggers understand that you\u2019ll probably make one for your mom too\u2014but the law says it\u2019s for you alone.<\/p>\n<p>Stuff you grab from an image search on Google isn\u2019t free because it\u2019s copywrite protected and you should be contacting the owner to request a license before using it.\u00a0 I realize that most people don\u2019t bother but as a crafter that wants to make money, you should be aware.<\/p>\n<p>Because you will need a <strong>Commercial Use License.<\/strong>\u00a0 This gives you permission to use the image to create projects (physical and digital) for sale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luckily, getting a Commercial Use License on graphics is easy and cheap.<\/strong>\u00a0 Reputable graphics sales portals like my favorite, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thehungryjpeg.com\/aff\/TrishLeBar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Hungry Jpeg<\/a>,\u201d include a Commercial Use License on all their products (except for some free downloads, but most of those come with it too.)\u00a0 There\u2019s a couple of stipulations where you can\u2019t sell the graphics but if you\u2019re creating free printables for your blog or making projects for download or sell then you\u2019re covered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To give you an idea how cheap it is to buy graphics, <\/strong>you can regularly buy a bundle of products that often includes 30 plus graphic sets for under $30.\u00a0 Each graphic set can contain up to 60 elements.\u00a0 Trust me when I say that you could outfit an Etsy shop with planner sticker sets for the next year using a single graphics bundle.<\/p>\n<p>If that\u2019s more than you want to spend, you can find single sets for as low as $1\u2014and they all come with Commercial Use Licenses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since it\u2019s illegal to just resell the graphics bundles, you will have to create something new using the designs\u2014but that\u2019s the fun part!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You all know that <strong>I LOVE my PicMonkey subscription<\/strong>.\u00a0 The design software costs the same for an annual subscription as a single month of Adobe Creative Cloud\u2014so it\u2019s totally worth it!\u00a0 I use it to create printables, Pinterest Pin images, sticker sheets\u2014you name it.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re just giving this a try, I\u2019d suggest that you use the free version of Canva to get started.\u00a0 I\u2019m not as familiar with that software, but it will work great for creating your first totally YOU-nique graphic to upload into Design Space.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Let\u2019s make a sheet of stickers to upload into Cricut Design Space!<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:\u00a0 <\/strong>Create a new project in PicMonkey or Canva.\u00a0 Choose an 8 \u00bd\u201d x 11\u201d canvas size.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: <\/strong>\u00a0Make the background transparent.\u00a0 This is available under the Edits menu at the top left of your screen in PicMonkey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:\u00a0 <\/strong>Upload your graphics into PicMonkey from the Graphics menu on the left side screen (it\u2019s the one with the shapes).\u00a0 For your first sticker sheet, choose graphics with clean lines\u2014I\u2019ll explain why in a minute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:\u00a0 <\/strong>Resize and rearrange the graphics you\u2019ve uploaded on the page to your liking.\u00a0 You can also add text to the images if you like.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:\u00a0 <\/strong>Examine your finished project.\u00a0 Are there any rough edges on the graphics that would be difficult for the Cricut to cut cleanly?\u00a0 Does it make sense if the Cricut cuts out each individual letter of text?\u00a0 Because the Cricut will try to cut along each line, and that\u2019s sometimes not pretty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6:\u00a0 <\/strong>For graphics that won\u2019t cut well and for text that you don\u2019t want cut as individual letters, you will need to insert a shape behind the graphic or text\u00a0 for the Cricut to cut instead.\u00a0 Choose a shape from the Graphics menu under \u201cBasic.\u201d\u00a0 Resize and drag it over the text or graphic that needs a background.\u00a0 From the Layers menu (the box floating on the left of your screen that shows each graphic or line of text), choose the graphic or text that you just covered and click the up arrow until the graphic appears on top of the shape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 7: <\/strong>Once all your graphics and text look good, click Export on the top menu to download your finished sticker sheet to your computer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blowingawayoutwest.com\/contact-us\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1055\" Your Sticker Sheet into Design Space<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:\u00a0 <\/strong>Open Cricut Design Space and choose Upload from the left menu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:\u00a0 <\/strong>Upload your sticker sheet.\u00a0 Choose \u201cComplex\u201d for the type of download.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:\u00a0 <\/strong>Cricut will give you two options for your graphic\u2014upload as a Print Then Cut or as a Cut file.\u00a0 To the right you will see what your sticker sheet will look like once printed.\u00a0 To the right you will see the cut lines that Cricut has identified in your project.\u00a0 If the image to the right has a lot of weird cuts, or parts of it don\u2019t look like it will cut right, then you need to go back to your PicMonkey project and add shapes under your graphics or choose different graphics.\u00a0 Cricut will print the image you see on the left and cut the image you see on the right.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:\u00a0 <\/strong>Add your newly uploaded image to the canvas in Design Space and resize your image to a maximum of 9.25\u201dx 6.75\u201d so that the entire image fits on a single printable vinyl sheet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:\u00a0 <\/strong>Click \u201cMake It\u201d and your machine will guide you through the steps of printing, then cutting your sheet.\u00a0 Be sure you choose \u201cCustom\u201d on your machine for material and then pick the Printable Vinyl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The purpose of this post is for you to see the possibilities for unique projects you can create AND SELL.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can use the same techniques to design signs or party sets or anything else that you can imagine creating and selling.\u00a0 Design it, list it and make money.<\/p>\n<p>Listen, making money crafting is easier when you do it the smart way.\u00a0 Why compete with everyone selling different versions of the same design when you can combine graphics you buy with your vision to create something that they can only get from you?<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a fun statistic to get you excited.\u00a0 Last year over 7,000 people downloaded my free Christmas Game, and I get more thank you emails from that game than any other post.\u00a0 I created that game using the techniques above.\u00a0 I love giving it away for free\u2014that\u2019s just something I want to do but charging $1 per download would have made me $7,000 on one design.\u00a0 I\u2019ve sold that same game at pop up shops for $10 because there\u2019s less competition and there\u2019s a price point expectancy that\u2019s different from free online printables.<\/p>\n<p>The point is that you don\u2019t have to give away your designs for free or sell them for cheap\u2014people will buy them and the price they\u2019re willing to pay increases based on three things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uniqueness<\/li>\n<li>Scarcity<\/li>\n<li>Where you sell them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you want to make great money selling your crafts, you will want to pay attention to design first and foremost.<\/p>\n<p>Then you need to think about how scarcity affects your pricing.\u00a0 Digital downloads are expected to have a lower cost because there\u2019s an infinite number available\u2014which is why I give mine away for free or under $5.\u00a0 By selling framed prints instead (and limiting the number available) you can charge much more for your work.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you have to decide where to sell them.
