Last Minute Gifts to Make<\/h1>\n

\"Last<\/p>\n

I have a confession to make.\u00a0 I set my alarm just so that I could walk around my house and enjoy the twinkling lights this Christmas.<\/p>\n

You see I realized this year that I wasn\u2019t spending hours (days if I add it all up) creating Instagram worthy projects and picture perfect rooms for someone else to admire, I do this for me too.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something magical about Christmas time that only manifests when we take the time and invest our best efforts to decorate our homes for Christmas.<\/p>\n

It transforms the place that we spend most of our time as a family into a place that encourages us to snuggle.\u00a0 To get excited and to wrap presents.\u00a0 To spontaneously ask Alexa to play Christmas songs because they make us smile.<\/p>\n

And for a few minutes this morning, I wanted to feel that magic that I know I helped to create through these projects that on the surface are just crafts but truly create atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\"Christmas<\/p>\n

It\u2019s my wish this Christmas that you take the time to admire your home.\u00a0 Look past the flaws and forget the projects that you wanted to do but didn\u2019t get done.\u00a0 See the beauty.<\/p>\n

When I do this simple thing, I\u2019m transformed.\u00a0 Suddenly I don\u2019t have a long to-do list.\u00a0 I have a list of people things that I\u2019d like to do to show my love for my friends and my family.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s never going to be perfect, and I\u2019m never going to be able to do everything that I wanted to.\u00a0 That\u2019s what Christmas in July is for and that\u2019s why I start Christmas preparations in October (more about that in January when we talk about planning your most creative year yet.) But it\u2019s still almost perfect!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the second confession of the morning.\u00a0 I love last minute gifts!<\/p>\n

To be clear, I don\u2019t love running to the store to comb through rejected spa kits and chocolate covered cherries (are those still a thing?)<\/p>\n

I love pulling out all those craft supplies that I bought with the best of intentions but that somehow got stuffed into a drawer and creating a little something personal for someone I love.<\/p>\n

\"Last<\/p>\n

Almost every year my boys\u2014they\u2019re men now but I\u2019m in denial\u2014get flower lapel pins<\/a> in their stockings.\u00a0 And because we\u2019re church going folk, I love to personalize pocket squares with iron-ons ranging from antlers to a Captain America shield.<\/p>\n

My daughter and I make Chill Pill bottles<\/a> for her friends, and I\u2019m always making holiday signs for my friends like these<\/a> and these<\/a>.<\/p>\n
