DIY Floral Arrangements the Easy Way<\/h1>\n

There is an easy method of creating pretty floral arrangements that anyone can use.\u00a0 And I do mean anyone.\u00a0 I used to be so intimidated by flower arranging despite being taught a lot about it from my sister-in-law honest to goodness floral designer, that I would just buy my arrangements.\u00a0 But this blog is all about empowering the DIY fire within and I refused to be held back by fear.<\/p>\n

I suffered from floral paralysis.\u00a0 For me, it may have been a problem of information overload.\u00a0 Which flowers need wire stem support?\u00a0 Have I properly prepared the floral foam?\u00a0 What types of greenery should I use?\u00a0 Once these questions started rolling around in my head I would panic and give up on the idea of creating a floral arrangement.\u00a0 If fresh flowers came into my home, I would fill a vase with water and shove them in it.\u00a0\u00a0\"DIY<\/p>\n

The problem is that flowers really brighten your home, especially if your home is naturally dark.\u00a0 That’s my house.\u00a0 There are dark places where a live plant would never survive, but a simple silk floral arrangement really helps.\u00a0 Deciding to face my fears I ran out and purchased at 253 page book on floral arranging.\u00a0 What was I thinking?\u00a0 Those books are for enthusiasts. I needed simple.\u00a0 I resolved to read the book and create a really fast, easy way of arranging flowers that anyone could use.\u00a0 The KISS method of flower arranging.<\/p>\n

\"DIY\"DIY<\/p>\n

FLORAL DESIGN MADE SIMPLE<\/b><\/p>\n

With this method you only have to make two decisions.\u00a0 Do you want a horizontal (short and long)\u00a0 or vertical (tall & skinny) flower arrangement?\u00a0 And, do you want it to be symmetrical (even on all sides) or assymetrical (uneven like a right triangle?)\u00a0 Once you make those two decisions, you use the cheat sheet to create your floral arrangement.\u00a0 Each stem on the cheat sheet represents a major stem in your arrangement.\u00a0 Shove them into a piece of floral foam at the angle shown on the sheet and voila!\u00a0 You have a basic arrangement.<\/p>\n

For the arrangement below, I chose a vertical and asymmetrical and used the cheat sheet to place my main floral stems into the arrangement.\u00a0 I used some floral picks for my filler (greenery) to make the arrangement fuller.\u00a0 That’s it, and while I’ve seen much more beautiful arrangements I’m pretty happy with the end result.<\/p>\n
