It’s so important to include our kids in our Thanksgiving celebration. They need to know that we are grateful for them, and that we want them to participate in all the wonderful conversations that take place around the Thanksgiving kids table. We banish electronic devices and replace them with delicious food, smiling faces, and a day where time slows. Children are naturally energetic and can struggle with sitting still, especially when there are cousins visiting and they want to get up and play. That’s why it’s so important to take the time to create a wonderful, inviting Thanksgiving kids table especially for the little ones.

The perfect Thanksgiving kids table will include activities to keep them occupied while the parents bustle over dishing the food, conversation starters that encourage the kids to catch up (especially important when extended family only gets together occasionally), and engaging decor. It’s so easy to forget that the kids table needs special consideration in the bustle of putting on a beautiful and appealing spread for the adults. The Thanksgiving kids table is an important part of any extended family celebration. I’m sure most of us remember Thanksgivings past where we joked with our cousins over plates of turkey and mashed potatoes (because those are the only two dishes we would eat). It was just as important to me as a child that I catch up with family as it is now.

Here are a few great ideas to help you put together a fun and engaging table setting especially for the kids. Best of all, these ideas are fun and colorful and will encourage them to linger around the Thanksgiving kids table a little longer–maybe even long enough for them to hear how grateful we are for them.
